struggling to stay busy?
Thursday, July 19, 2012 @ 1:23 AM
And yet, I neglect my actual blog here. Sure, I'm always ranting or posting other meaningless things on Tumblr, but I need to work on getting some content goin' up in here. I plan on doing more DIY projects, cooking more frequently, and keeping you guys posted about my fitness and health progress. Speaking of which, I found out yesterday at my doctor's appointment that I've gained 16lbs! holy shit. That's what I get for a) being a couch potato b) not weighing myself anymore. I'd like to get back in the habit of documenting my food intake and daily exercise. Do any of y'all use MyFitnessPal? If so, add me! My username is 'holliehood'. I'll also get some sort of routine going like..I don't know, pictures of the week? Who knows! Anyway, as for updates, not much has happened in my own life, clearly. But my sister finished her final chemo treatment though! Can I get an AMEN? I did post a while back that she was cancer-free, but it's a bit hard to explain why she still had to continue treatment. Only after her scans at the end of the month will she technically be in 'remission', but they don't consider it a cure until 5 years or so. Again, not something I can really sum up in a paragraph, so feel free to read about it on her blog. Well, that's it for now. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions on content, how to stay busy, or how to get on a good routine with sitely updating! PS: Please ignore the wonky-ness of my current layout. I'm still working out a bug or two with that! Labels: blog, personal, random 1 comments: leave a comment
out with the old, in with the new
Thursday, July 5, 2012 @ 8:06 PM
I finally decided to get a new a layout! The other just wasn't working for a lot of people. Plus, let's be real, it was hard to navigate and kind of tacky. And maybe it's just because this one's new, but I'm really diggin' it! I combined the base code from two templates (as seen in the credits!) and then tweaked that sucka'. Tbh, the most difficult part was choosing my auto play music - so many choices from video games! I probably changed it 7-8 times and I'm still unsure, haha! AND YOU BETTER NOT HATE ON IT! It's wonderful! (I'm sure that's what everyone with auto play music says.) Nah, I'm kidding, go ahead and let me know if it's unbearable!
Anyway, check it out and gimme some feedback! Did I upgrade or downgrade?
PS: Text only posts are so boring! I promise no more of these. Labels: blog, good news, layout, personal, site 0 comments: leave a comment
to change or not to change..

This is quite random, but do you guys think I need a new layout? I actually kind of like it (although it obvs needs work in the tags and content sections) but apparently it doesn't work/line up correctly for others? I don't know, I'm going to leave this one up to you all! I have no idea how to add a poll, so just leave a comment with your vote! how does your garden grow?
Sunday, April 22, 2012 @ 10:07 PM
Seriously, LOOK AT THEM. Given, they're all sandy from the plant having fallen on the ground (staked it today though, so no worries!) but my, aren't they beautiful? There's just something about growing something yourself that makes you appreciate it even more (like your own kids, I suppose ;D). I mean I know they're not ready to eat yet (the tomatoes, not the kids! I'm not a monster!) --unless you're into fried green tomatoes, which I'm not-- but the anticipation alone is overwhelming. I literally will not eat a slicing tomato unless it's a homegrown one. I'm spoiled on them! The difference is astounding. If you've never had a homegrown tomato, then I really don't know what you're doing with your life. As for the rest of my garden, it's actually progressing nicely too! Now, the weather isn't loving the cabbages or romaine lettuce, but I knew it was too hot to put it in. I just did it because my parents gave me the plants and I figured why not? But when I pull those up, I'll get in my melons and expand to add corn. And the other crops are doing WAY better than last year. It really does pay to get them in early and to do things right. I can only imagine how beautiful my garden would be if I had done everything organic and had access to loads of compost and fresh rainwater. But either way, very pleased with the way things are going so far. Labels: blog, garden, random, vegetables 1 comments: leave a comment
good news everyone!

i bet you read the title in professor farnsworth's voice, right? ;)
k but seriously, you ready for this? *drumroll*
my sister is cancer free as of today!
yayayayay so exciting! now they couldn't say for 110% certainty because some baby fat lit up on her scans (which i don't fully understand) but they felt confident enough to say that it was negative for cancer so that's badass! and though it does mean that she'll have to continue her chemo (still ABVD and no BEACOPP, thankfully) until june/july and continue to get neupogen shots weekly, this is still obviously a huge and fantastic announcement so i thought i'd share :3 Labels: blog, good news, personal, random 2 comments: leave a comment
the most boring post of the year
Wednesday, February 8, 2012 @ 7:51 PM
Early in the week, Bill surprised me with breakfast and the most beautiful heels I've ever seeeeeeeeen. This is a shit-tastic picture so it obviously doesn't do them justice but omg. I've been eyeing glitter heels for so long and these are just perfect! Except for the fact that I don't think I can actually walk in them. Not only that, but I don't think I have an occasion to actually wear them. Those two things + me not liking to accept gifts anyway = probably taking them back.... :'( but we'll see! Moving on! While I was at my parent's house I...
got scratched in the face seconds after taking this picture
doodled a little bit ![]() but what was important (and what I didn't capture any pictures of, because it wasn't quite appropriate) - I went with my sister to her first chemotherapy session! We learned a lot, her treatment went well, and it just seemed to go very smoothly, which is such a relief! I could talk about this a lot more, but it'd be much easier for you to go to her personal blog if you want to learn more. Oh, and two other things to mention - I bought my hair dye (have yet to dye it, but I intend on filming it!) and I finally scheduled my CT exam & xray, yayyyy! Anyway, all in all a pretty good past couple of days! Talk to you guys later. :) Labels: blog, personal, random 0 comments: leave a comment
2012!
Monday, January 2, 2012 @ 4:11 AM
Woah, it feels weird to say that. 2011 seemed to both drag by and fly by in some sorts. There have been a lot of ups and downs to this year - mostly downs. But I'm not complaining! I'm thankful for everything I've been blessed with this past year and I can only hope that 2012 will be even better. I'm trying not to set any outlandish resolutions for myself this year, as we all know those tend to be a set up for failure. However, I will say that I'd like to work on being more healthy and creative. Also, can we please cut the crap on the whole Mayan doomsday prophecy?
ಠ_ಠ
Here I am trying to enjoy the holidays and I keep hearing people mentioning the end of the world. Oh Lord! Haha, well I guess we'll see, eh? ;) Anyway, best wishes to all of you and everything that you choose to do in this new year!

WELCOME

Hey y'all! ツ
Welcome to my new website. If you're here, you probably know me, so there's not much use in explaining this and I'm bad at introductions anyway.. but I will say that I have no idea what I'm doing right now! This is the first time I've had a site since, oh, 7th grade? Geez. I figure I'll do some cooking stuff, maybe some crafts, beauty, just whatever comes to mind, really! I'm awful at updating things though, so forgive me if I disappear for long periods of time! Anyway uhh yeah, I suppose that's about it. Oh and hey, feel free to snoop around! I've currently got tags at the top, and then bio and whatnot on the left. Hopefully that helps and I hope to hear from some of you guys in the form of comments! 0 comments: leave a comment
